KODI without GUI on Headless Raspbian
#1
Dear all,

I searched a lot but I didn't found any usefull/working information.

First of all, what do I want to achive:
Currently I am running minidlna on a RPI3 (with attached USB HDD). Works fine, but handling playlists is horrible.

I heard that Kodi can also be used aas DLNA-Streaming-Server, but offers also a Webfronted where I could manage my playlists. Will this playlists stored as M3U file on the harddrive and then be available as Playlist on the Streaming-Clients?

If yes, is there a guide on how to install Kodi on a headless Raspbian (Jessie)?

Br,
Johannes

Yatse makes headless a lot easier for me. But it's not perfect.

If you're planning on running kodi just for music you should probably run logitech media server and squeezelite instead. There's a bunch of good apps for and it can also be controlled through a Web interface.

Check out the squeezebox forum. It can also easily be installed through the max2play jessie image. And so can kodi

Did you manage to install Kodi without a GUI? I'm looking for a guide myself.

EDIT: I'm trying this now: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt...6&t=192499
