interesting box.... if you have all these characteristics:

- A real true Android TV (It seems from the video: setting, cast ecc.)
- DRM Widevine L1 ( L1 TrustedCore partition, keybox etc ..)
- good remote control / Air Mouse like : MX3 Air Mouse backlight, Mele F10, Rii mini i25
- high-res audio support 192Hz / 24 bit
- HDMI CEC support( missing on hisilicon box )
- Good quality AC adapter( 12v 3A )
- good price

i don't think is good idea, with linux i suppose ExpressX video Engine 2 post processing not work and you don't have pop-up menu setting:



the only vantage of linux maybe is high-res audio support 192Hz / 24 bit.

U5Team is a set-top box development team.
Therefore, development and stabilization of broadcasting related functions are prioritized.

We launched the U4PVR product in 2015.
This U4PVR product included oscam functionality, & TV Headend Server in Android OS (ver.3.2 custm).
U5PVR products will also be included.

It does not yet support independent Linux base booting.
And it does not guarantee 4K HW decoding playback under Linux.

For that reason, we plan to support virtual Linux to boot with Android at the same time.

Thx. Hope you will provide us soon more detailed informations about this box and new improvements in your software. Many people still waiting for good android box with more extended dvb tuners support (like double/triple tuner options) :-)

We have seen many of your blog posts.
We have received a lot of help with your professional reviews and PATCH during product development. ^^



We also conducted benchmarking and testing of the Hisilicon Q10Pro Android OTT settop for about a year.

However, our development target is not OTT settop of various technical support, stable broadcasting reception and recording settop device + simple NAS with Iot.

In Korea, we will start terrestrial 4K UHD experimental broadcasting (ATSC 3.0 base, 4 channels) from 2017.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, the official 4K UHD terrestrial broadcasting will be done worldwide.

Our main goal is to develop settop supporting global 4K UHD broadcasting.

- A real true Android TV (It seems from the video: setting, cast ecc.)
==> Yes. But, ATV customer FW can not certified by Google.

- DRM Widevine L1 (L1 TrustedCore partition, keybox etc ..)
==> No. L3 level will be supported.
As you know, it's only possible if a major-level sales company requires Google authentication.

YouTube 4K: This ATV customer FW supports YouTube 4K playback.

==> Remote control: PVR exclusive remote control.
Voice command support must be replaced by a smartphone.

This may be Sorta working because you need a proper Google Licensed Android TV OS device to get full Chromecasting/Google Casting capabilities.
And even then Casting can be hit and miss on the official Android TV OS platforms like the Shield and the Mi Box.

Yes. I fully agree with your opinion.

We are seriously concerned. it is the best way that delete function of chrome cast in custom FW.
