PIP is a work in progress. But to get it working fine, a lof of things have to be changed in Kodi, as it currently can only run one videoplayer and not two in parallel. So the core system of Kodi needs refactoring which is currently done step by step

Yeah this is one of the most missing features.
I see there is some changes that would make it possible in Kodi 18.
