An i7 is massive overkill if you are just using Kodi, I use an i5 already but 4th generation and it plays anything I throw at it. That is in a fanless case too.

So new on this, have kodi but on a Android box and to be honest its ok but had to pack it in after the latest kodi update and use my Pi which too is to slow and crashs alot with the latest kodi. Used mostly for addon streaming etc, and IPTV which I am to yet move back on to. So looking at kodi, on a Intel Nuc but not sure where to spend the cash. I have a NAS box which has all my Blu Ray movies on now, keep the original disks clean. So will need HD 1080, but as I am now buying some 4k films which are now also being copied on to the NAS, I need the intel nuc to be capable of play back for this too. I understand Kodi can do this as well. Is this true? I have also a few 3D films on my NAS, and wondering if there are any issues and if capable intel nuc to cover this altogether.
Any idea the best option here? Want to keep the price down as best as possible.

All the latest NUC's should play 4k and 3D stuff fine now.
