EMINENCE 2 MOD (REVIVED)
(2019-01-15, 15:58)ido_ Wrote: can you please upload the template file to somewhere which doesn't require me to allow the website access to notifications?

Are you sure? I've been using it for years, never seen that behaviour? Maybe it's some kind of ad that my adblocker removed? Anyways, you can try this link. I haven't seen any prompt on my machine.

EDIT: Regarding your earlier question, the PVR OSD should behave almost identically to the original skin, with the exception of the additional info screen added on the i button. I'm not sure if I understood the feature you've mentioned, so correct me if I'm wrong. When you go up or down when channel titles are shown, it should go through them. When only the buttons are visible, going up/down displays the additional info. Whichever screen you set through the i button, that's the one that should display.

Hi Alanon
Your last post suggests that you are not aware that the links you have provided in the last few days take you to this site https://www109.zippyshare.com/v/JywmVhY4/file.html  complete with photos of Russian ‘babes’ etc.  Click a button to download an Eminence file and you find instead that you are instead downloading porn, and malware.
Not good.  I am using Firefox without blockers.
Cheers

What?!? Geez...

Here's what I see:

Granted, I'm currently running AdGuard, and I've been using various adblockers for at least a decade, this sort of look is all I can remember from Zippyshare. The download speeds are excellent, and the files stay on for a long time. It's been my go-to uploading resource for a very long time... I'm honestly kind of stunned that the user experience could be so egregious for some users.

As an aside, how do you manage to browse the internet without some ad-blocking solution?

I gave up using ad blockers as standard Firefox now seems to block nearly all those annoying adverts without the extra hassle this can cause.
I just check: block ‘Trackers’, and ‘Dangerous/Deceptive Content’, in Firefox preferences.

Cheers

thanks for the link, i'll try it.
I dont use an ad blocker

regarding what i was asking for, its exactly what you mentioned, i dont want to click i for the info and then click up/down to see what is on other channels, i want it to behave like in the default skin where i only click up/down and i"ll see the channel logo and info about the show on other channels

Hello Alanon, I can confirm that fix from post #1,389 works but I can't change background in 3.0.3 version.
Although I set the background in (Settings > Skin Settings > Background > Background overlay image) the background in the main menu remains default.
As you can see on this img, the background changes in the settings but not in the main menu.

Yes.  I hadn’t noticed before that the Background button at Home> Customise Home Menu > Videos (etc) > Background, is not now working

I can confirm that the solution provided in post number #1,389  works!

running the latest nightly; installed the 2 dependancies and everything works again.

Running this on Nvidia Shield TV.

Really love this skin! Smile
(a side question; could you add an option to hide the home-tile in the top-left corner in the main menu?)

Thank you very much for your hard work Alanon!

Amazing work Alanon. I feel for all the effort you're putting in here! With that in mind I hate to pose yet another problem however I am trying to get this to work on my Nvidia Shield and the only Kodi files I can see are located within the Profile directory (I am having to use the Kodi File Manager to do the file operations). The Eminence Skin folder is present under the addon_data folder however it doesn't have an extras folder so I created one and copied the files across. Tried to do everything else you outlined above but still doesn't seem to want to build the menu. Wish I go back to RC4 as it was all working beautifully there.

On android, you might need a different file explorer or better yet ssh to the device
the location of addons for kodi on android is, from the top of my head, /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/addons

Thanks for the response lusephur. Seeing as the Shield is not rooted it seems that no file explorers allow deeper access to the storage. Maybe I'll have to wait until the official release of v18 and a final working Eminence. In the meantime I shall have to use an inferior skin Smile

You could try adb.
Can you connect the device via usb to a pc?
See https://sites.google.com/site/nvidiashie...-debugging

And more indepth from the excellent stack overflow.
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3643...-shield-tv

Can't speak for the veracity of the methods mentioned, I don't have access to a shield device. But adb has saved me a few times on linux when my android phone will not allow file transfers via Dolphin.

Edit: I didn't realise there are different models of Nvidia shield. Obvious when you think about it after the fact, though. Anyway, nvidia have this for adb-ing to the newer shield models.  https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/...r-adb-mode

Just a thought, but since there's a dot in front of the Kodi folder which marks it as invisible, you may not need root at all, just a file manager with the ability to display hidden folders?

Anyway, I'm still testing everything out to make sure the menus work properly, I'm hoping that I can release an update soon that will simply install over the old version and work out of the box.

Actually, you are indeed correct, the location of the folder /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/addons is in user space, it doesn't require supersu/root privileges to access and modify. The hidden files toggle should make the folder viewable.

Thanks so much guys. I will investigate!
