Question about channels and functions
#1
So I'm considering cutting the cable, but I'm wanting to verify channel availability and some things.

So me and my wife have checked, and we only watch a total of 16 channels and some are seasonal for just a single show. Between her, our son, and myself channels we watch are.

Mine
FOX -
NBC -
CW -
USA -

Hers
ABC -
E! -
Lifetime -
Bravo -
Hallmark -
Lifetime -
MTV -

Our Son
Nickelodeon -
CartoonNetwork -
BabyFirst -
Sprout -
DisneyXD -

First question is. Can some of you experienced users tell me which of these are available, and which are not. Just put a (Y or N) next to the channel.

Second question is. Do the channels show current live TV, or save the most current NEW episode that was aired just in the last few days for access any time? And if tthey are LIVE only, is there some sort of DVR function available?

Third question is. What am I looking at as for cost for the channels that are available?

Thank You in advance!

I will give a general answer instead.
Channels will only br available to you through either OTA (free-to-air) channels via an antenna, a dish or a cable subscription plus backend to distribute them to your clients. Almost any backend i know has recording capabilities.

That should sum up your options so you can decide if they are available to you.

If you choose to use the unpaid/unwanted methods than sorry, but you are on your own.

Good luck.

IMPORTANT:

The official Kodi version does not contain any content what so ever. This means that you should provide your own content from a local or remote storage location, DVD, Blu-Ray or any other media carrier that you own. Additionally Kodi allows you to install third-party plugins that may provide access to content that is freely available on the official content provider website. The watching or listening of illegal or pirated content which would otherwise need to be paid for is not endorsed or approved by Team Kodi.

For those cord cutting, please be aware that in most cases third party add-ons have not negotiated any agreements for re-distribution, take down requests for streaming television are a daily proposition, what was yesterday maybe gone tomorrow. The add-ons provided in the official repository are the only source of streams we endorse, beside OTA tuners and services such as HD HomeRun by SiliconDust which is promoted.

There and not legal addons for most of those, see:

http://addons.kodi.tv/

Many can however be recieved legally OTA (Over-The-Air) with an antenna and TV-receiever to recieve the signal, so I think that you would want a "PVR" based solution with a physicial TV-tuner (USB or network-attached) and that needs a third-party "PVR backend" server on your local network to access the streams it offer inside Kodi's PVR interface. In general you always want to read the wiki before posting in the forums on searching anywhere else online => http://kodi.wiki/
