I was wondering if there was a program or if Kodi can be applied to PS3. If kodi cannot be used on PS4, does anyone know of a program that basically allows what kodi for amazon fire does but on the PS3

Not possible without official support from the first party (Sony). Game consoles are 100% closed systems, unlike a desktop computer or an Android tablet. What software they use is tightly controlled. Sony would not care for Kodi since it is free, and comes with free stuff, it does not help them earn money.

Don't hold your breath. It hasn't happened yet. I doubt it will in its current form due to Kodi's addon feature.

But the thing is that CFW is now available for PS3 which allows packages to be installed which I believe if somebody could do it could port Kodi on the PS3
