Win Kodi 17 | Mimic 5
#1
Hi braz,

I clean installed Kodi 17 last week and it has been running stable. I love Mimic and installed 5 this afternoon. Everything seemed to be going ok, but now I'm getting some random crashes. I wonder if you might take a look at my debug logs and advise.

Log
part one: http://pastebin.com/i3e8fkfR
part two: http://pastebin.com/FJnj3HJH

I am running Windows 7 - 64, Intel Core [email protected], 16GB RAM, 2 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760s in SLI.

Let me know if I can provide any more useful information.

Thank you!

Hmm, last error says something about being out of memory, hard to understand when you have 16gb. No idea what is causing the crashes, though I'm not really an expert at reading Kodi logs.

Unfortunate. I originally had a lot of trouble with Kodi 17, but I also immediately installed Mimic 5 because I am addicted to the functionality and minimalist set up I can make with it. I reinstalled Kodi and tried Omni and had the same problems. (http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=307597)

After a week of stable operation with Estuary (which I loathe), I decided to attempt using Mimic again. And here I am. I am fairly sure the problem is with Mimic or one of the add-ons that installed with Mimic. I do wish I could be more help to you. I love your skins. Is there anyway i could be of assistance to you?

It sounds from your other thread that you also had problems with other skin's? I don't see how it is a skin issue, more likely some other installed addon. Have you tried completely removing skin helper service as was suggested in the other thread?

You might also try manually installing the latest OMNI from GitHub. It no longer includes any skin helper service features.

So, it seemed to be running OK this morning. I began a movie and watched about 15 minutes until Kodi froze. The log is really long, so I'll post just the end: http://pastebin.com/DEVtmrRG

The ffmpeg error at the top of the post repeated many, many times before the log I pasted. Ill post the entire log broken into several parts if you think it will help. Following the shutdown, Kodi now is repeatedly crashing at start up. Log: http://pastebin.com/PT8H4yH4

EDIT: I see you posted while I was preparing this post. Give me a moment to respond.

EDIT2: As a last resort I tried to install other skins and Kodi just failed, frozen, and wouldn't start without crashing. Can you tell me how to remove the helper? I am completely willing to try anything you might suggest. As I stated in the other thread, I installed Milkdrop2, WeatherUnderground, and the Library Node Editor. Nothing else. I have been running for a week without problems. I installed Mimic only and am now having issues. I really want Mimic to work! I'd love to help if I can.

Nevermind. I deleted the folder script.skin.helper.service from AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons and Kodi at least is running now.

Looks like it is the skin helper service backgrounds addon that is causing the crash in the latest log you posted. I would try a clean install and only install skins that don't depend on skin helper service. See if that makes a difference.

Try downloading the latest OMNI zip from GitHub and install via zip file.

Ok. That will be my next step. Having removed the folder, Kodi seems to be running OK although I haven't really done anything yet. Movie is playing...

What is that service for?

Edit: Oh, and THANK YOU! For the skin and the assistance.
