I've Kodi Krypton installed on Linux Mint. I've also the ibus package for switching keyboard input methods. Ibus works in every other application without issues. However, it does not work when inputting text in Kodi. Regardless of the input method, only English characters are shown in Kodi when typing.

If this is not possible, can I get pointers on how I can create an add on that listens to user input when Kodi is expecting text and modifies the keys sent to Kodi?
