I downloaded the new version of Kodi today and went through the installation process. Instead of getting the new version of Kodi - I got the following.
MySoftUpdate
SurfBuyer
MediaDownloader
MegaBackup
MacKeeper.

So now I still have the version of Kodi I downloaded in 2016 and now I get freaking pop-up messages ever few minutes.
Am I missing something here?

What URL did you download Kodi from?

First time was from an email. Second time I went to Kodi.tv and clicked on Downloads and selected iOSX from the icons.

Did you attempt to install the version of Kodi you got from an email? Why would you do that? Do you trust the person who sent you the email? I'm guessing this may be your problem.

The email was from Kodi.tv since I'm a subscriber to their newsletter. It simply announced the new version of the app.
It could have been a spoofed email. I've trashed everything that was downloaded.
The second time was from the website - and that's when I got the application files showing above. The first time I saw 3rd party names in the installation process so I didn't fully do the installation.

So if I go to downloads on Kodi.tv I should be OK?
