v17 IMon HID loop
#1
Hi All,

I've resolved any issues with my Kodi machines previously with a search, I know there has been 2 forum entries for this in the v17 Beta's but was / is there a workaround to resolve it? I have the loop of hardware entries continually only on 17 and now 17.1, reverting to 16.1 it works fine. I have rebuilt windows 7 from scratch but no change.

Previous posts (I wasn't sure if I should revive them):
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=295240
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=158324

Log entries below are looped every ~8 seconds, remote is unusable and the whole machine stutters each cycle, same with imon installed or removed. I can replicate every time and will be able to post any logs required, I haven't due to the historic entries above. I only get these when 17 /17.1 is launched.

17:59:24.321 T:3560 NOTICE: PERIPHERALS::CPeripheralBus::UnregisterRemovedDevices - device removed from imon/\\?\usb#vid_15c2&pid_0038#5&342db8f9&0&5#{a5dcbf10-6530-11d2-901f-00c04fb951ed}: iMON HID device (15C2:0038)

17:59:25.844 T:3560 NOTICE: PERIPHERALS::CPeripheralBus::Register - new imon device registered on usb->\\?\usb#vid_15c2&pid_0038#5&342db8f9&0&5#{a5dcbf10-6530-11d2-901f-00c04fb951ed}: iMON HID device (15C2:0038)

Please note I'm not complaining about the VFD display I would like the IR sensor to work so need to stop the hardware being reset. Any help or workarounds gratefully received as I think 17.1 has a lot of nice UI streamlined features, over 16.1.

Hi,
I'm having the same issues. Windows 7 64-bit. Antec case. Imon works fine until I run anything kodi 17+. Once I run Kodi, the driver loops on and off. Imon doesn't work and no remote commands work.

This is the loop I'm getting in the Log.

For reference I found another (later) thread, http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=311189, and updated it with the logs, but seems we're waiting for a developer to get time to look into it, while waiting I've reverted to Kodi 16.1 as it still works fine with imon.

Upgraded test installation to 17.3 Git:20170524-147cec4 issue is the same - Kodi 17 to 17.3 aggressively removing and reinstalling the imon device and user interfaces seemingly has no options to prevent it happening. Is there any workaround for this? Are the developers likely to review it or have they consigned iMon HTPC users to be legacy Kodi 16.1 users only?

No responce at all.

Till now, we knew that every new version of a program, had new features additions and improvements.
Instead, kodi 17 stopped working, in machines where was working for many years.

Someone (developer maybe) desided to kill kodi for us, and no one is interested.

Maybe they don't read the forum at all. Maybe this forum is here for social reasons and for making friends.

Too bad for an excelent piece of software (until ver 17).

For what it's worth KODI 18 has the same issues with iMon - can't see much value in posting logs though unless a developer chooses to take a look.

What came first the chicken or the egg? Developers entertain issues with development builds (tagged Leia) if presented with the issue in a manner that doesn't suck hours. That means throwing up a proper debug log with a short explanation in its own thread.

Does this mean creating a new thread for each Kodi version 17, 17.1, 17.3, 18 even if the explanation is the same and logs indicate the issue is the same? If so which thread version is likely to be looked at - the latest or the stable?

Have you submitted a 'BugTracker' on this, or is there one already up, when the issue gets to this stage it will be addressed, just might not be the response you want.

with this statement, it's likely you shot yourself in the foot.

Entertain, my previous post, persistence is key.

I have found a resolution, the issue is the game controller that cannot be disabled, someone has hard coded the default controller enabled.

The workaround is to disable the joystick support under this. I have tested 17.4 & 17.3 and it seems to work after restart and reboots, but not tested extensively yet, so I'd suggest a temporary install and copy version 16.1 folders into it as per the docs for a dual install (-p switch on start).

Process to disable joystick support (someone may have a better shortcut?):
settings > system settings (advanced or expert view) > add ons > running > .. > my add ons > peripheral libraries > joystick support > disable > exit

shut down Kodi
restart iMon
run kodi in -p mode
test

Hi everyone, looking at the forum my problem I came across in this discussion, the new versions 18.3 and 18.4 present the same problem that you had in the past, with the 17.6 everything ok, with the new iMON remote control (play, pause, stop ect ect) do not work. I noticed that in the peripherals of 17.6 is indicated iMON HID device, while in the 18 mi from many models of peripherals but this of iMON no, I think this is the problem, some ideas to work around the problem? sorry my english, i'm italian and i don't write well, good evening everyone.
