I had Random PVR Background set for the Live TV thumbnail as well as the background. That suddenly disappeared in the Set Thumbnail options. Was that option removed during an update or something?

Open settings for the Skin Helper Backgrounds addon. In there there should be an option that it may also use livetv to generate the PVR background. By default it only uses recordings.
