choppy picture and sound doesn't sync
#1
hey guys,
I just updated to kodi 17 and after the fighting and headache i got it to open up by following the directions on another thread, but i am having troubles with the video being choppy and it doesn't sync up with the sound. I'm running IOS 10.12.14 on a mac book. I've tried running it just on my laptop and through a mini DVI/HDMI cable.
hope you guys can help.
thanks!

Memphiz I have the same issue as the OP. I can usually figure these things out so don't really post much. But this has got me stumped. Using Jarvis I had no issues. I updated today to Krypton and have playback/audio sync issues. I am running a mid 2010 Mac mini server edition. OS X 10.12.3. NVIDIA GeForce 320M OpenGL Engine. Intel Core 2 Duo P8800 @ 2.66GHz. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi! Have the same problems with frame drops.

macOS Sierra 10.12.4
MacMini mid2010, 2.4 core2 duo, 5gb RAM, NVIDIA gForce 320M 265mb, SSD

The problem exist on m4v 1080p movie, it seems like 5 FPS

I've tried to disable AppNap - no difference
If I press O during video playback it shows
- Video decoder: ff-h264-vtb (HW)
- Pixel format videotoolbox_vld
...
- System memory usage 15%
- System CPU usage 16%

Kodi 17.1

The same file played by VLC without any problem.

Nvidia vtb acceleration causes trouble atm. Disabling vtb vide acceleration might help.

Settings->videoplayer->playback (hard to tell exactly - somewhere in that area...)

Thanks for this - Kodi has been very smooth for me on a new MacBook Pro but has stuttered a bit on Apple TV 4 running 17.1 (thanks so much anyway) and was brutal when I tried it earlier today on a headless late 2010 MBAir with a core 2 duo. This fix has moved the MBAir performance way ahead of the ATV4 - surprising as the A8 should be faster.
