Do not worry about it. The resolution setting is for Kodi UI only and it is indeed fixed for Android. All the video data is sent as is, so you will watch your videos in their original resolution, possibly scaled to the TVs native resolution. You can see the actual video file resolution in Video properties while a video is playing.
