Movie scraping issue
#1
Hi

I am using Kodi v17 and Universal movie scraper on a Win10 x64, and also Nvidia Shield.
I have a large collection already that the scraper has detected with no issues, except one movie:
Piranha 3D (2010) by Alexandre Aja is for some reason not being scraped correctly. It has been detected as a movie called Piranhas (2010) and is a comedy and IMDB does not know that movie at all (well I will agree that the movie is comical but it seems IMDB has set Piranha 3D in the horror genre). No movie poster is detected. Movie plays fine.

File structure:
\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha 3d (2010)\Piranha_3D.mkv

How can i get the movie scraper to do its job correctly.
I have tried to clean the library but nothing seems to work.

Any help that leads to correct movie scraping will be appreciated.

Is this the correct movie in IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464154/

If yes, then correct the file name to Piranha.3D.2010.mkv and try to scrap again.

Hello Nuitarius,

You have this... \\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha 3d (2010)\Piranha_3D.mkv

Try this... \\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha 3d (2010)\Piranha 3D (2010).mkv

Let us know if it works. If not we'll try and think of something else.

Thank you for your input.

I have tried your suggestion, but Universal movie scraper is still scraping it as "Piranhas" from 2010 by Jason Strouse.

And yes you have found the correct title from IMDB, which the scraper is for some reason not finding

Thank you also for the suggestion. But again not solving the issue.
It seems the word piranha is tricking the scraper into finding Piranhas first and everything else second. Or it is not finding piranha 3D at all. I dont know. I usually only see this incorrect labling when I have used the wrong year, but it seems the year of production is correct.

I have now tried the following:

\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha 3D (2010)\Piranha.3D.2010.mkv
\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha 3D (2010)\3D.Piranha.2010.mkv
\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha 3D (2009)\Piranha.3D.mkv
\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha 3D (2011)\Piranha.3D.mkv
\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha_3D (2010)\Piranha.3D.2010.mkv
\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha-3D (2010)\Piranha.3D.2010.mkv
\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\3D.Piranha (2010)\Piranha.3D.2010.mkv
\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\3D Piranha (2010)\Piranha.3D.2010.mkv

Same result. Finding it as Piranhas 2010 by Jason Strouse (Comedy). The scraper seems very set on not finding anything else than the comedy show. Maybe Jason Strouse has all his savings in Universal Movie Scraper? Big Grin

I don't see my suggestion in there. Did you try mine exactly? Because I just tried scraping that movie, and it scraped fine first time.

Also you need to realise, in all those examples you gave, there is not one case where the Directory Name matches the File Name. You are confusing the scraper.

\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha 3D (2010)\Piranha 3D (2010).mkv I have changed the Directory name from 3d to 3D, just so directory and file name match perfectly. Missed that on first viewing.

Not a good idea to use the full stops in the title. It is documented that there are situations where this confuses the scraper.

Also, you never mentioned which scraper you are using. I am assuming the default one TMDB

I must have forgotten to put it there, but for arguments sake I just re-testet your version, and still no good Sad

Which scraper. I know it's universal movie scraper, but from which site have you set it up to scrape from?

I actually did tell you which movie scraper I used, in the first post. Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough Smile
I am using the scraper called "Universal movie scraper" and it is set to get from IMDB. I started out using the default one, but had major issues with it, so I changed to this one and this movie is the first one that I have not been able to figure out without help.

I usually do not use full stops in the title, but I am trying out different methods to try and get the scraper to do its job.

I usually do not change the title on the mkv at all, I only use the folder name and it is all good with the other 500 movies I have on my NAS. So I am a little surprised that this movie is so difficult Smile

Hmmm... interesting

Went to the movie Piranhas in Kodi, and went to "Information" and then pressed the "Refresh" button, it then asked me if I wanted it to reload information from the internet. I said yes and then it prompted me with different choices.
The first one was Piranhas, and the second one Piranha 3D (2010), I chose that one and then tadaaa fixed.

Well there is a first to everything right? I do not know why the scraper was struggling with this movie, but it seems there is a function hidden in there to correct it.
Total joy.
Thank you all for your time Smile
