Android Shield TV: MediaCodec (Surface) and Hyperion
#1
Hi,

I'm using SPMC at the moment, because it's the only way for me to get the Hyperion addon working with MediaCodec (Surface) by adding
Code:
<usedroidprojectioncapture>true</usedroidprojectioncapture>
to my advancedsettings.xml (https://github.com/koying/SPMC/wiki/How-...Surface%3F). As it seems this doesn't work with Kodi 17 on my Shield TV, since the lights stop getting the signal immediately after starting a video. Correct me if I'm wrong but MediaCodec (Surface) is the only way to play 4k HDR movies, isn't it? Is there any solution which I'm not aware of?

Thanks in advance

I think your right about MC Surface yes in relation to 4K HDR.

How does this work for Hue lights? Interested in trying myself.

Yes, you have to have hardware acceleration (i.e. mediacodec) enable for 4K HDR since it has to handled by the hardware.
