SMB2 support was first added in samba 4.1, but we are currently not able to compile this or a newer version.

X-plore can access to SMB2 from android;
Today my NAS still has to do with SMB1 only because of KODI.
SMB2 is better for HD, 4K video

Kodi v18 will have SMB2 and SMB3 support as Samba was update to 4.1.23. You can already use it with a nightly build.

tested v18 nightly: but SMB can't be used ,now, to see HD video (and same with smb1). The flow rate is very low. Switched to NFS to see video.
Hoping that it is not final, and that there are possible improvements.

Post a Debug log (wiki), or it may never get fixed.

test with SMB1 limited server with video file x264 2.2GB through wifi AC @400Mbps (this is regression; work before and just updated kodi)

same with SMB3, But I encountered other problems during the test.. Kodi use 75%CPU and old video (Xvid/mp3) never start.. and sent log not work! error.. and more 60sec to exit KODI
If necessary I redo a log in SMB3

pure SMB2 and 3 not work with latest 18.0 RC3. (pure SMB2 = smb without smb1, without cifs,without port 135-139, only tcp 445) when use default setting min=smb1, max=smb3.
More video never start, other start 2-5 second and hang (time count, but not play video/audio)

Now I test with min version=2 and max=3; and it will seem like it works.. (but now the children are in front of the TV .. I'm retesting later.)
