Charset in closed captions

Hello all,

I am running tvheadend version 4.0.9 under Kodi 16.1 in LibreElec 7.0.3.

I can display closed captioning subtitles allright for English content. However, when I tune in French-language stations, the French-specific characters (e.g. accented vowels) are just getting lost, which makes the subtitles much harder to read.

Under settings>video>Subtitles>Font_to_use_for_text_subtitles, I tried to change the value of "Character set" from "Default" to "Western Europe (ISO)" or "Western Europe (Windows)" but that did not help: the French characters are still missing from the displayed subtitles.

Any suggestion on how to fix that problem?

I just updated the whole system. I am now running tvheadend 4.2.2-32 with the Kodi HTSP client version 3.4.24.1. This is all under the control of Kodi 17.3 under LibreELEC 8.0.2.

The system is running smoothly but unfortunately, the problem mentioned above remains unchanged.

Can anyone offer a suggestion either for fixing the problem or for identifying someone who might know how to do it?

Thanks in advance!
