i just downloaded Kodi 17 to my laptop using windows 7 professional, exe file downloads the files but does not fully complete the process and i get the message "the program cant start because api-ms-win-runtime-!1-1-1dll" is missin.......

i have tried a number of times with no luck - i ran Kodi 16 on the same computer with no problems

You've Googled that error, I presume? If you have, you'll have found that it's linked to a bad or missing universal C runtime:

Try re-installing that as appropriate, and see what that does.
