Hello,

Having recently replaced my noisy/big/bright Humax box with a quiet/small/not so bright RPI2 with HD tuner and SSD my partner is not happy with the standard of the epg.

I'm pretty new to all of this but having nosed around a fair bit first it would appear that the only way I can change the epg is by using an iptv addon. Unfortunately it would also seem there is no way of adding a tuner to such an addon which would mean she has to put up with it.

Can someone wiser confirm this for me, or if I am wrong, point me in the direction of a alternative solution.

What is wrong with the EPG? I'm happy with it, it does the things that any previous EPG has done. But maybe I have been missing some cool things a EPG should be able to do?

Do you mean the presentation/view of the EPG data in Kodi? If so, this is dependent upon your skin: changing your skin can drasticly change how the EPG looks.

If you are referring to the data itself, that is totally dependent upon your EPG provider. The data provided OTA on DVB feeds is usually pretty good. OTA guide data for ATSC in North America is pretty horrible. You can also use a third-party guide provider (such as Schedules Direct or PercData), but how well additional guide sources are supported is determined by your PVR backend.

Thank you rpcameron, I do indeed mean the presentation/view of the EPG, I should have made that clearer in my original post. I had not considered the fact that a change of skin could also result in a change of EPG layout, like I said I,m pretty new to all of this.

Accurate replies depend upon accurate questions.

Of course, the presentation of the EPG may change by skin, in Kodi it is still constrained to a grid, AFAIK. This means channels in the vertical, and time in the horizontal.

There may be a skin that presents this differently, but I am not certain. The size, colors and layout of other elements (such a plot summary or thumbnails) do vary by skin.

If you have a HDHomerun there is no need for xmltv data, everything is built-in.
