17.3 on a Xiaomi Mi Box android

There are multiple attached hard drives off a hub.

All are shown correctly by their volume label but when you open 3 of them they have the same folders as one of the drives.

Any thoughts?

The drives have movie folders by year, 2013, 2014 etc.

One of the drives has 2012, 2013 & 2014.

When I look at the media source the volume labels are correct but when I open the drives three show 2012, 2013 & 2014.

So presumably it is physically seeing the drives as separate entities but confusing the contents of three of them.

When you say "hub", do you mean a USB hub?

Correct, it can be powered or unpowered - 7 port.

The Xiaomi is seeing all 5 connected drives and correctly displaying their volume labels

Do you mean in kodi? Have you set them as sources, or do they show up automatically?

In my limited experience connecting 1 HDD to an android device is usually fine, but as soon as you try to connect 2 or more it all falls apart - because where they're mounted (ie which first) seems to be pretty much random.

Can't set the source as folder info is wrong.

Any known way to get around the multi device mounting?

Not that I know of - but as I say I'm no expert.
My solution is to run libreelec - not an option on the miibox..

So Libreelec does not have this issue? Had thought of running it anyway.

Libreelec will mount hard drives all day for fun.
But as I say AFAIK it's not possible to stick it on your box.

As far as I'm aware the mi box cannot run libreelec, bcause the bootloader's locked down.
