Hi I am looking for the best way to access my kodi media files stored on my drobo 5n from a remote location. I have tried setting up an ftp server on the drobo but it does not seem fast enough to stream my hd content but it does work for dvd content. From what i understand FTP servers aren't really suited for media streaming. My next thought was to try to setup a vpn on my router and connect my remote htpc to the vpn and use that to access my network attached drobo as if it was on my local network. However, I do not know that much about VPNs and I am not even sure if this is the best way to accomplish remote access. Im curious to know what others are doing and if there is a simpler way to go about this. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
