Kodi can't see network shares (SMB alternatives)
#1
My buddy has a Win7 Pro box with several shares (Movies, TV Shows, Music) on it. Up until recently, he had an Acer Revo with Win7 and Kodi 17 on it, and Kodi could see all the shares on the Win7 Pro box.

For various reasons we decided to replace the Revo with an Amazon Fire TV box. I got Kodi sideloaded on it, but it will not see the shares on the Win7 box.

I've gone through both methods on the wiki, using a homegroup and not using a homegroup, but neither works. I've tried multiple combinations of IP and hostname and all sorts of things in between. It fails to connect using NFS or SMB.

So: what are my alternatives? I can install pretty much anything on the Win7 box. I saw someone in another thread say they setup nginx to host files, but I brief glance at that scared me away.
