RK3399 or S912 with HDR and automatic frame rate
#1
Hi everyone,

Which tv box is HDR compatible and supports automatic frame rate in Kodi for a price up to $/€ 150,00?
Would you choose in this case for RK3399 or Amlogic S912?

What would be the best choice in your opinion?

Thanks for your reaction.

@Foetus,

You are being blinded and seduced by WOW Tech Specs and very likely fancy marketing telling you a whole bunch of bullshit !

I would choose None of them because there is a very strong chance they will both be running rubbish Firmware that will have all sort of Kodi incompatibilities. And there very likely will be NO bug busting ongoing Firmware support from the seller.

Cheap generic Chinese AML S912 devices have been the worst hardware to use for Kodi for about the last year, you need to read this thread:

START HERE - Pick the Right Kodi Box (updated May 2017)

As for Rockchip anything - avoid. Rockchip have been notorious for NOT following standard Android API's as such expect Kodi Krypton compatibility problems. You would need to run a custom version of Kodi and you will be on your own with that. This website will not help with any issues.

Working Refresh Switching & mostly working Kodi HDR - with excellent Firmware support (direct install of Kodi from Playstore):

- nVIDIA Shield
- MINIX U9-H (AML S912)

Chasing HDR tech Spec hardware at the expense of Stable well supported Android Firmware is the path to anguish, pain and oblivion.

From the START HERE thread...

Have you got all your HDR10 hardware ducks in a row ?
Cut through the Marketing B.S. and read what is required and where to get properly encoded HDR content in this post.
