Multiple Streams from Same MUX

Hello Forum....

I'm finding that I cannot stream multiple OTA channels from the same mux (e.g.,195.028MHz). Although I have 4 tuners configured with TVHeadend; If I start a stream from channel-4 on one client it will play just fine. But if I begin a stream from channel-5 on the same mux, from a separate client, the stream will only play audio and TVHeadend stream status does not detect a second tuner being used. I cannot replicate this issue when connecting to my HDHR backend, streams play just fine so I'm hoping it's a simple setting modification I've missed.


Is anyone else having this problem? I captured some log info during the time I launched the channel streams. Note the log entry when the second client tries to access a channel from the same mux. The second client is trying to use the same tuner to connect instead of one of the other three.

Well it should use the same tuner. But why you are only getting audio I don't know.

Not quite sure I understand your response. How can two separate clients use the same tuner to stream two different channels? Note my screenshot of the four tuners configured on my backend; see the 1st client is streaming a channel using Tuner#1, shouldn't the 2nd client use one of the remaining three if streaming a different channel? However from the 2nd client; if I select a different channel from the same mux (551.028MHz) I will only receive audio and will not connect to one of the remaining three tuners. Per the log I sent, the 2nd client will try and use the same tuner to stream a different channel from the same mux.

You must be using a sub channel from the main channel, in order for that situation happen.. Example, one client is watching the HD channel, say 2.1, anther client is watch a sub channel of the master, ex. 2.3, they will only use ONE tuner. It is not possible for only one tuner to be used if each client is using a different channel, example, client 1 watching channel 4.3 and client 2 watching channel 7.4. One of my channels has the HD master and 5 sub channels, I can have 6 different clients watching each of those 6 channels and only use ONE tuner........

That is an awesome function.

That is an awesome function.

yup.
You can even watch the same channel on three different clients at the same time, pause & resume either of them without harming the other two.
And in parallel do a recording on the same mux (different or same channel in that mux) without using another tuner.

I'm pretty sure, that there is some limit to this, but I didn't see it yet.
