Old timer re-entering kodi!! 1080p/4k capable cheap box please!!

Hi, I've bought a panasonic 902b and could do with a box to run kodi on again which is a bit more mobile. I have a gaming rig which will usually playback content but would like a nice tidy mobile solution until i get my setup properly sorted.

Whats a cheap 1080k bluray high bitrate (I'm talking 30gb rips or Bluray ISOs) from an external hard-drive which u guys could reccomend?

I do have a macbook pro, I am tempted to just hook this up to the TV for now but its quite unintuitive remote wise and the wires make it all quite messy.

Thanks,
Major Props Poofy and Eskro! Check out their sigs for the best help/advice.

Raspberry Pi 3 will do that nicely (if you have any VC-1 rips you'll need the VC-1 licence key which is GBP£1.20). As will an ODroid C2. Both running LibreElec.

Both support CEC remote control (i.e. use your TV remote to control Kodi). Pi 3 has integrated WiFi so you can use a smartphone remote app too. Otherwise a cheap RF USB keyboard or RC6 remote (ODroid has built in IR receiver so can be persuaded to work with most remotes, Pi will need a suitable USB or GPIO receiver)

Pi 3 is 1080p max. ODroid is 2160/60p capable and will do HEVC better than Pi.

I'm not even going to go into detail, just link to what has already been written for 1080p/4K HEVC (H265) HDMI 2.0 capable boxes:

AMLogic S905(x) - LibreELEC / OSMC - Kodi Krypton - 4K Options
