Hey guys, first let me say you guys rock! I love kodi!
Anyway, running krypton 17.3 on amazon fire tv, and on 4 separate amazon fire sticks, no real problems with kodi.
I decided to install on my windows 10 comp to do some testing,
I installed kodi, installed log viewer and uploader, then installed confluence skin because that's what I'm used to.
Kodi crashed on each attempt to install these 3 things..

Kodi has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a soluitioon is
available.

I then turned on debugging and tried to install bravo from the kodi repo, video addons and the system crashed again.

Edit: forgot to mention I was running 17.0 on this comp a while ago, did a complete uninstall, including deleting app data folder.
I did update windows 10 with the developers update before trying to install 17.3

So you can start and stop KODI fine. Just when trying to add add-ons from the official repo you get a crash?

I wonder if the issues was at the German repo? http://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/xbmc/addons/krypton/

As nothing has worked yet, I'd be tempted to uninstall KODI, delete (or rename) %APPDATA\Kodi\ and try again with a fresh downlaod.

ok, got home and uninstalled everything, uninstaller deleted the app data folder, I double checked that!
Downloaded kodi from the link on this site, installed it and this is the timeline...
7:42 open kodi, 10 seconds in it crashed, same error as I mentioned above
7:43 open kodi, anable debugging, start to install log viewer, crash
7:46 open kodi, installed log viewer, tried to install log file uploader, crash
7:47 open kodi, tried to install log file uploader, crash
7:48 open kodi, tried to install log file uploader, crash
7:48 open kodi, installed log file uploader and retrieved the logs
It gave me 2 logs...

tried uninstalling and re-installing multiple times. then I tried installing krypton 17.1 and was going to upgrade to 17.3 to see if that did anything.
10 seconds after running 17.1 I got the same error. Finally I ran the windows program compatibility troubleshooter.
windows recommended test running kodi in windows 8 mode. Tried that with same error.
Tried running in windows 7 mode, vista, xp service pack 3, all ended up crashing.
Is there anything in the log that helps, I don't really see anything, but I don't know what I'm looking for

A weird question, I know. What anti-virus are you using?

After installing Windows Developer Update, did you...

1. Update your Video and Audio drivers? If not, you are using the crappy Windows default drivers, which cause lots of issues.

2. Do you have an Internal (motherboard) video card, and a PCI based video card? If so, disable the one you are not using, and launch Kodi again.

3. If you are running McAfee, Norton, or the other crappy Anti-Virus solution, disable them (or whitelist Kodi in them), and see it that solves the issue. BTW, the default Windows Anti-Virus (Windows Defender) doesn't have these issue, so might want to stick with it.

You were right, McAfee real time scanning was messing up the whole thing. I made an exception for Kodi, and its working great now. Thanks for your help!
