SOLVED - Passthrough grayed and no other option
#1
Hi to everybody, I just installed last version of Kody (17.1) under the xubuntu SO.
Before I had it under Openelec, but I don't remember which release was; I try to configure the audio features but I find an annoying problem, the passthrough is grayed and there are not the option I had in the previous installation.
The result is sound isn't in multichannel output (usually I streaming movies with AAC in HD, so I suppose they are also in multichannel).
If I played normal DVD in Ubuntu (for example with VLC) the output is correct so the sound card is well configurated.
The output is made through a S/PIDF, and is well configurated also in Kodi.
Any suggestions will be appreciated
Regards

Can you please post:

1. Screenshots of your audio settings in Kodi

2. A debug log (wiki)

Nickr, thanks a lot for your prompt reply; I created an account in pastebin.com, but you need a special log or I just start the vision of one movie for few minutes, than stop it and save the log ?

At this stage, just a standard debug log. Use the Basic method in the link provided by nickr. Enable Debugging, Restart Kodi, then let the movie play a few minutes.

Upload to pastebin. An account is not required as it is free for anyone to use.

To upload the photo, use... https://imgbb.com/ This is also free and requires no account.

on linux the recommended way to upload a log is:
make sure pastebinit is installed:
Code:
sudo apt install pastebinit

upload log:
Code:
pastebinit ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log

@gianni_1963

Your log is no good...

1. You need to enable debugging- Settings>System Settings>Logging, then restart Kodi
2. Post the full log. No edits.

See the above wiki link. It explains your options in detail.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Thanks to everybody, in effect was a problem of PulseAudio and I realised it when I saw different windows from the wiki, so I installed from the software center last release of PulseAudio then appear the same option of wiki screen shot.
It's strange that a fresh installation of Ubuntu doesn't have the PulseAudio updated...
Any way, all works correctly also the multi-channels came out so I can hear my movie in Dolby digital Smile !!!
