I was reading the kodi wiki on how to install on linux but for Debian it seems to focus on Jessie and not Stretch. How can I install Kodi 17 on Stretch?

Would it just be a question of changing from:
deb http://http.debian.net/debian jessie-backports main

to

deb http://http.debian.net/debian stretch-backports main

(Assuming thier is a "stretch-backports" and that kodi 17 is in there?)

Thx in advance!

https://packages.debian.org/stretch/kodi

They have 17.1, but mind you, debian's kodi packages are not supported here.

Thanks for the nfo.

Is there another/recommended way for those who are running Debian to run Kodi (that would be supported here)?

Your distribution is your first level support.

"Of course, they [XP Users and people with outdated hardware] need to tell the world about the kind of hero they are, and block innovation for everyone else because their decades old OS / hardware needs to work =p" nevcairiel (ffmpeg)
