Kodi crashes when playing video
#1
Hi,

I installed Kodi on a PC that I built recently.

Additional PC info
Windows 10 Pro - Version 10.0.15063
CPU - Intel core i5 7500
GPU - Nvidia gtx 1060 6gb asus strix
RAM - 16gb DDR4
Motherboard - Asus strix z270I gaming

Graphics driver - nvidia 384.76

Connected to my TV (LG OLED55C7P) via HDMI 2.0

It crashes when trying to launch movies from library.

I did a fresh install of Kodi 17.3 - added movies to library, tried to launch one and it crashes each time. I've tried changing some of the playback settings - "adjust display refresh rate, allow hardware acceleration, etc" it either continues to crash Kodi, or instead crashes the whole PC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I use Kodi on all my other computers without issue, so I'm pretty stumped. Thanks

Edit:
New development,

I have run Kodi using Windows 7 compatibility mode - and now movies start. However, it now crashes after I press stop. This also happens in Windows 8 compatibility mode. (tried with hardware accel on and off, same result)

Error log - https://pastebin.com/v73taib9

Edit 2:
Strangely it seems I have fixed the problem.

I uninstalled Realtek Audio drivers, run the program through windows 8 compatibility. No longer crashing.

That's not a debug log. Please turn on debugging, restart Kodi, reproduce the problem, then post your log to pastebin.

Just a guess, but try turning off hardware acceleration.

Thanks for suggestion,

Problem persists.

Edit:
Have found that uninstalling realtek audio has fixed the issue.

Windows audio (wiki) FTW: Hardware Vendor Specifics - If using WASAPI do not use the Realtek HD Audio drivers as they do not work

Thanks for the info,

I was a bit surprised as I have my TV plugged directly into my GPU, not my motherboard - so I didn't think it was even going to be using realtek, as it says on my PC that the default playback device is nvidia HD audio.

Anyway, hopefully the problem doesn't come back Smile

Thanks again for help and advice, will let you guys know if for some reason I have further problems.
