Requirement for Local Scraping - Is an NFO Mandatory?
#1
My understanding is that scrapers check locally before checking the net.

I have a few videos none of the scrapers (including the Universal one) will pick up.

I will download the cover from the net, rename it according to the standard and put it in the same directory.

The question is, Is it necessary to create an NFO file or will the video be indexed in the library solely with a coverart JPG? My preference is not to bother with the NFO

MOD-edit: we don't need a question in braille size. The vast majority of Kodi forum visitors can read normal text just fine.

The answer is Yes / No.

Yes it is necessary to create the nfo file. No you cannot create a library entry based on artwork. Your two options are...

1. Name the file correctly according to the scraper site. If the movie does not exist
2. Create a nfo file.

What is the movie?

Creating the nfo files are quite simple. There are programs available to do that. See... https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=142723

Thanks, a couple of issues;

1. Some are on the IMDB eg; (This Is Known as) The Blues Scale (2004) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436007/
Trying all the different scrapers and removing the brackets etc, no joy

2. Some are TV docos but I have them in the movie folder and want them listed as such (ie: as a movie)

3. Others are not on any scraper site

I gather I will need to create an NFO for all 3 categories

1. Any of these? https://www.themoviedb.org/search?query=Kurt+Cobain

2. You will need to search TMDB site to ensure they are listed there. TMDB are pretty good with documentaries, so there is a chance they are listed

3. These sites provide a valuable service to us. It is amazing that they are all free to use. I think it would be great to enter the missing information on the site for all users to enjoy. Imagine if no-one did that... there would be no scraper sites. In the time it takes to create a nfo file, you could enter the same information at the scraper site.
