There is a widget for exactly this wanted listing in the home and TV show hub screen called "recently updated tv shows".

I assumed he means Date added when he says "last added", the tv hub "recently updated tv shows" doesn't show individual episodes it groups them together i thought he wanted a list of recently added episodes.
xml:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<smartplaylist type="episodes">
<name>Recent Unwatched Episodes</name>
<match>all</match>
<rule field="dateadded" operator="after">
<value>1900-01-01</value>
</rule>
<rule field="playcount" operator="lessthan">
<value>1</value>
</rule>
<limit>15</limit>
<order direction="descending">dateadded</order>
</smartplaylist>

This results in strange scenarios sometimes (filled music playlists with videos for example).

Can you give me a example?I think it might be limited to LazyTV, if you use "Only populate with selected TV Shows" then go to select your shows, highlight the first show but don't select it then press left or right and click save. Now open up the select TV shows list again and whatever show you had highlighted before will actually be selected. You'll even see the highlighted show being selected (turning blue) when you press the save button
