Is there any way to change the highlighted title via a python call. In the addon I am writing I need to set it to the folder I am viewing.

Try setting listitem.label or label2.

If I'm not mistaken, in Estuary it can be changed with a "plugin category" label: http://romanvm.github.io/Kodistubs/_auto...inCategory
But usually such labels are skin-dependent.
