How can i play HDR content? I have a 10 bit encoded videofile but kodi is not sending hdr to the tv. I have enabled 10/12 bit support in the nvidia driver and enabled hdr in windows.

Also kodi seems to crash the videodriver when exiting. The screen is blacked and i need to disable deep color mode on the tv to get the signal back. I al using a LG OLED65B7 and a nvidia 1080Ti and Kodi 17.2

I have tried using madvr but either i am doing something wrong or else it is not working. Any hints?

Dsplayer supports madvr render, but it drops frames on my i7 6700K and Gtx1080Ti. I know thsis is not the right place to ask, but anyone knows if madvr/dsplayer is capable of playing 2160p/hdr without dropping frames?

The reason is simple: No time. You know kodi is our hobby, nobody gets any money from it and everyone of us has their daily jobs, while weekends are dedicated to our families. Kodi has grown very large - but only the userbase - not the developer base. Therefore implementing of such features most of the time happen during holiday seasons if possible at all ....

Let me start with stressing that I have the greatest respect for the time & effort that you and other devs put into this amazing project. We cannot demand anything from a team of volunteers, we can only appreciate and be grateful that we can have this software for free. But that doesn't mean we cannot hope, look forward and discuss.
Furthermore Kodi is seen as one if not the best home theater open source suite out there. Because it's so good and notorious, it's normal that people have expectations for their beloved Kodi.
As with the initial request for win64 builds, the response from the team members on HDR seems to be very short/cold/indifferent and making it sound like HDR is a not an important aspect of video playback.
That is until it's implemented, then suddenly it's one of the greatest accomplishments and the initial replies of Kodi members shooting down the idea (referring to win64) seem odd.

Long story short, it would help not only the community but yourselves to be clear on this topic. More and more people will buy HDR TV's, the questions will start to come in more frequent.
I reached out to Ned Scott to ask him to setup a wiki on this topic together with the team, this wiki can then be referred to in any questions that might be brought up on the support channels.
Wiki should include:
- Vision, "We all want full HDR support in Kodi, but few things need to happen before we get there..." (sounds better than "we don't support it.")
- Why currently we need to look at external players as a workaround (maybe include a recommended guide)

There is a guide. It's in my signature. It is linked in the Kodi wiki under 3D 'other guides'. http://kodi.wiki/view/3D I didn't put it there. It's only under 3D because the thread was created prior to the introduction of HDR. Since then, HDR has been included in the thread, maintained, and updated frequently. The format is terrible. I'm not talented that way. Anyone that desired to clean it up is welcome to. I don't thinks it is "recommended" because it relies on other player(s) and components that fill the voids of Kodi. I don't know of any other guides related to 3D frame packed and HDR while seamlessly using 'Official' Kodi as the front end so I created it to share my experiences and help others with theirs where I can. I do know the thread has not been removed. Perhaps because it is an alternative to unofficial builds or nothing at all. In the event the Kodi internal player was improved, I would let the thread fade off into the sunset. Until then, in support of Kodi and new formats, a wiki addition called UHD HDR (4k) with details pending linked to that thread as it was in the 3D under 'other guides' might be better than nothing?
