Turn old laptop into Kodi Box
#1
So, I have an old Intel i5 core, 4gb ram laptop I want to turn into a Kodi box. Literally it will be for nothing else and just be connected to the TV non stop with Kodi open.

What OS do you recommend I use? The more minimal the better.

I will be using a tablet as a remote control so those features need to work in the settings.

Based on the OS you recommended, can you recommend some software that will automatically re-open Kodi if it closes down?

Libreelec. Butt, really, I would sell it for $60 and buy a raspberry pi.

An Intel i5 will slaughter any Raspberry Pi setup period both for Audio and Video playback.
The RPi are using old, slow hardware for a 2017 media player setup.

As suggested use LibreELEC Kodi Krypton on old Intel Hardware. It will fly on an Intel i5

Put LibreELEC on that thing and you are set.

Kodi works well with this remote.
