Solved DVBViewer Client Issue Server unreachable Kodi 17.4
#1
Hi Community,

I’m a newbie with Kodi so far. I have been Dreambox and MCE in the past. So the whole stuff is kind of familiar.

However I’m struggling with LifeTv and PVR inside Kodi using DVBViewer. UInfortunatly I didn’t find any Thread addressing the exact Problem. Sorry If I missed something.

What have I done:

As WMCE is no longer supported and plugins etc. are rather I have installed and configured Kodi 17.4 on a windows 7 64Bit PC with a Digital Devices Cine DVBS2 Card v6 installed the other day. Using Forum and Wiki – which are excellent BTW - I managed to try out various DVB-Server like NextPVR, MediaPortal. I got all of them working perfectly inside Kodi, but due to usability I decided to go for DVBViewer. So I bought DVBViewer Pro and installed it on my PC.
In have installed DVBViewer Version 6.0.3 as well as Recording Service (beta) 1.33.2.1 from the member’s area. I went through the Configuration and – I think – I got them working ok.
I can watch the tele using the DVBViewer Pro Windows Application. Insinde the DVBViewer Settings it is saying it can connect OK to the Recording Service. I can also access the Web interface of the recording service OK and I can also watch the tele via a browser.
The Recording Service is setup as localhost with no password. Widows firewall rules have been setup during installation. I’m using a LAN connection which is configured as “home network” (not sure if this is the correct naming in englisch. In German it says “Privates Netzwerk”) inside the Windows. Settings.

Now my Issue:

I have install (activated) and configure the DVBViewer Client add on (only active PVR addon) in Kodi. IP is “localhost” or “127.0.0.1” on Port 8089. I have tried setting password and no password at all. But I keep on getting the Message: “DVBviewer Client: Server can not be reached”). DVBViewer Pro and TV via web browser are working fine.
This is really frustrating as I’m getting nowhere.

Anyone able to help with this issue?
Thanks in advance

As a first step try to disable the firewall. Maybe it's blocking Kodi. If this doesn't help, paste a debug log.

Hi, thanks for the very quick reply. I had tried disabeling the firewall and reboot. No Joy. Forgot to metion. How do I get the debug log?
I guess you're talking about this here:
http://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Easy

I'll get it this evening to post it.
Thanks.

Hi there,

I have now gone through the following steps with no success:
First of all I have disabeled Windows firewall and virus scanner to cross out any interfereence.
I have cleanly unststalled DVBVierer and all components. Deleted program and configuration directories of a clean installation.

Watched the videos as mentioned
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ku0DwlxK6NI Part1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpoRlpWoWsg Part 2

It all goes well and exactly as in the video up to the point in part one where DVBViewer is started for the first time. I can tell from the blue icon of redording service it is running and it says "wayting for connection".

If I now click help -> recording service wizzard (actually in v6.0.3 of dvbviewer it sais "media serivce wizzard") there is no server to pick. Just an empy drop box and the ip is set to 127.0.0.1 rather than 127.0.0.1:8089 as shown in the video.

Using a browser to connect to 127.0.0.1:8089 is asking for my login and the login works. No Chanels obviously as the channe search can not be completed.
I'm using dvbviwer pro 6.0.3 and recording service 1.33.2.0(beta) on a win7 64 home premium.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I think you are better of asking for help in the dvbviewer forum.

OK, I'm back.

With some help I got DVBViewer and Recordingservice setup and talk to eachother.

Bottom line:

The videos mentioned above
Watched the videos as mentioned

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpoRlpWoWsg Part 2

are a good ressource. But in Video the guy is talking about to disable RTSP Server. This was the reason for my why Recording Service was not recognised by DVBViewer. Afte Changing the setting things worked like charm.

But I still have the problem Kodi can't connect to Recording Service. I get the Message "DVBViewer Client: can not reach server".

I hav tried to log this down using the Kodi logs.

Her is a snap shot of the Log I think is relevant:

The obvious thing I spotted was the 401 for http://127.0.0.1:8089/api/version.html

If I try this URL Ifrom a browser on my machine I get the following XML output:

<version iver="18940416">DVBViewer Recording Service 1.33.2.0 (beta) (MEDIA-PC)</version>

which basically tells my should be fine.

Any ideas? Thanks
