Ok have XBMC working great with wireless with a rock solid 20 mbps actual throughput connection. Problem is my parents purchased this microwave oven on steroids. My connection was at my appartment surrounded by multiple microwaves but this one is ridiculous. I have tried different channels and everything. I was wondering if there is a way to tweak the catch settings to have the xbox be ok with a 5-7 min internet dropout. I typically only stream stadard def avi in the 700 mb range. Logic would dictate a 55 mb cache but was wondering what this would do to load times ect or if it would even work.

You could always switch your wireless equipment to 802.11a. It's an older standard, but it runs in the 5 GHz range. That would take care of your problem for less than $100.

yeah guess I'll wait for 5 ghz draft n to get cheap. Don't see the point in going back down to a. It works great though just need a large enough buffer for the dam microwave.

I'll be damned, my only excuse is that it was a while since I looked into draft N, also I live in EU, it's not impossible "our" N is 2.4 only, but that also might not be true

You may want to have that microwave checked out. Mine kills my wireless connection as well, and it really bothers me (from a health standpoint)...
These waves aren't supposed to be getting outside of the microwave.
I don't worry about the radiation so much when it's coming from my 100mW Wireless card, but when it's coming from an 1100W Microwave oven, that scares me.
That's 10,000 times the power, and if it's getting out, there's no telling what kind of damage it's causing to our tissues. Cancer, anyone?
Maybe I'm just being a Luddite, what do you guys think?
I mean, I know a lot of people who stand directly in front of the microwave while they wait for their food to heat up.
Aren't these things supposed to be sealed?
