Solved ALL versions of Kodi no longer working after attempted upgrade
#1
I tried upgrading to 17.4 from Jarvis, and after the install I keep getting "Kodi has stopped working" immediately after trying to run the program. I have tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling. I've tried deleting the UserData and reinstalling. Nothing seems to be working. I've even tried every build of Kodi I could find, nothing seems to fix this problem.

Apologies if I haven't formatted my thread correctly.

UPDATE: Kodi is now working perfectly after upgrading to Windows 10. It is unknown why Win 8.1 wouldn't let Kodi work properly, but now things are running smoothly.
Thanks for the help.

Re-upload your debug-log to a public pastebin and link that URL back to this thread.

Looks from your log that Selected NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 adapter 0 while \\.\DISPLAY1 output is the choice. Which leads me to think that there is more than one graphics engine at play. You didn't make it to the splash screen which is the first nod of graphics coming alive. (this is a laptop?). Check your device manager in windows and ensure you only have one Installed driver for Windows 8 and there is no conflict, might be a good idea to update the driver https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop...ce-gtx-980 but you might give a thought to installing windows 10

I checked Device Manager for conflicts, none were found. Only one driver installed.

This PC (not a laptop) started as a prebuild (I'm guessing?) and ended up in my hands, I added the GPU and several other upgrades, not sure if this is what's leading to the problem.
Driver is up to date, may try rolling it back.
