v17 Bad length recording at player
#1
Hello,
I have trouble with most recordings length at player.
On list and recording information is all ok, video length is right.
But if I play this recording, length is wrong, very big.
Position slider moves like is the recording large, but if I set slider to position after actual recordings length, player stop.

For PVR I use DVBLink and sat tuners.
Kodi 17.4 on windows 10.

length on list 1:25:59
showing length by play 17:02:46

Might your question be best handled in the PVR & Live TV Support section? https://forum.kodi.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=167 (I'd be happy to move it along). More information is needed, e,g the versions of software and hardware configurations; especially everything that a proper debug log posted to a public pastebin and that URL linked back to this thread would elucidate? Some of this is directly related to the skin you are using, showing length by play 17:02:46 might have to do with the entire source folder and it's playtime, where exactly are you seeing this figure in what view?

Hello,
thanks for answer.
I saved the log to https://pastebin.com/uu1ru1gt

I use default skin and I see the wrong length time after mouse moving down where is actual playing time and total time, and in right high corner too.
The first and last viewed video was wrong

I think this is a general problem with Kodi's video player, though it happens most often when watching pvr content. I've seen this happen many times with recordings both from DVBViewer and Tvheadend. I also read from another forum that this happens with recordings from VU+ devices. In my experience it's more common with recordings from hd channels.

I don't think it's a problem with signal quality, because most of the time Tvheadend reports no errors in recordings. Sometimes when there are erros, the duration is still displayed properly. Also switching between .ts and .mkv as containers doesn't seem to have any effect.

It doesn't matter if the files are played from the pvr menu, library or video files section. The time is always correct after I've cut out commercials or the beginning and the end of the file with VideoReDo TVSuite (no re-encoding).

Other players like VLC or MPC-HC show the correct duration at least on Windows.

It seems that this problem with recording lengths in the video player has been fixed in the recent nightly builds, at least for Tvheadend.

Yesterday I installed a nightly build from 9.1.2018 and all the recordings that I played showed the right duration. Even when playing ongoing recordings the total duration kept increasing at correct pace as the playback progressed.

It looks like the fix is something that needs to be implemented in the pvr addon itself, so some pvr addons might not work properly yet. For Tvheadend I found this change in github: https://github.com/kodi-pvr/pvr.hts/pull/347
