I've recently installed Kodi 17 on a Windows 7 based HTPC I have made out of old parts. Specs wise it is fine and runs without issue, but the GTS 450 appears to be incompatible with DXVA2. I have installed the latest drivers, and when playing MPEG 2 DVD or MPEG 4 footage I get strange artifacts when using it (split second black screen, large triangular shapes that disappear / re-appear suddenly).
With DVXA2 off in the settings menu, all renders properly... I am thinking hardware wise maybe the decoder feature on this card is a little out of date, hence the anomalies.
I would like to buy a new ATI card (ideally silent / passively cooled) to use in it's place. It won't be used for gaming so 3d capabilities are moot. What would you suggest?
Thank you
