No Wireless Settings in LibreElec
#1
Greetings All,

I tried to register in the LibreElec forum, that I might address this issue there, but the site would not complete my registration and email the needed "activation code." As a result, I am appealing to the Kodi community for help.

A couple of days ago, I installed LibreElect on my new Minix Neo Z83-4, and I am experiencing a problem which I think several others have already reported in the LibreELec forum: there are no wireless settings present within the - 'add-ons > LibreElec Configuration > Network' - pathway.

I did read through the other threads touching on this issue (which included screen shots identical to mine), but - forgive me - I didn’t understand if a solution to this issue was given:

I am currently learning about bug-reporting for LibreElec and hope to be able to produce such if needed, but as a few others have already presented this issue, I am hoping that a solution may already exist.

Does anyone here know how to activate the wireless settings in LibreElec when mssing? Any advice would be much appreciated!

We will at least need a dmesg

Code:
dmesg | pastebinit

Without that we can't do anything.

Thanks DaVu,

I'm only a low-intermediate computer user, and I can't seem to find any information about retrieving/creating a dmesg from LibreElec. As the system goes directly into Kodi - brilliant, by the way - I tried using the instructions I found at <https://wiki.libreelec.tv/how_to/provide_logfile?s[]=debug> and followed the - 'Add-ons > LibreElec Configuration > System > Pastebin system logs and get short URL' - pathway, but I receive the message "Failed to paste log files, try again."

I know this is asking a lot - sorry, but if you could briefly explain how I ought go about providing the dmesg, I will do my best to achieve it.

Thank you Namerp, it works now, and I posted a report in the Linux area of the forum - much appreciated!

ssh into your libreelec mchine, the uer ir root, the password is libreelec.

Then run the following at he commandline
Code:
dmesg|paste

A URL will be returned, post it here and we can see your log.
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge, click the 'thumbs up' button to give thanks :) (People with less than 20 posts won't see the "thumbs up" button.)

And in case you don't know how to SSH into LibreELEC, please read:

https://libreelec.wiki/accessing_libreelec

be aware to enable SSH at the LibreELEC settigns menu before trying.

Unfortunately we can't help without that dmesg.

Thank you DaVu, but I don't think that I'm qualified to perform the processes needed to solve this problem; frankly, I found it challenging simply to switch the operating systems in the first place, lol!

Unfortunately, I think that I will not be able to use LibreElec at this time, but I really don’t want to go back to Windows 10. Can you suggest an alternative operating system? One that is light and fast, but ready for Kodi "out of the box?"

if you aren't able to follow a video which shows all the steps needed for how to access LibreELEC via SSH and then enter a command we already told you....then, tbh, I guess Windows might be the best OS for you

Nothing else will ship Kodi directly out of the box beside LibreELEC and OpenELEC and the latter has become pretty silent at the moment.

Any other OS, especially Linux based OSs, will require more steps on the command line to install Kodi. So, for the reason you don't want that, it wouldn't make sense to recommend any of them.

Please don't take any offense, but if you can't handle those little steps, you should really stay at windows. Windows isn't bad for Kodi...maybe a bit of overkill to use a full blown OS for only using Kodi, but if you can't handle anything else, your choices are rare.
