DVD Iso Menu problems
#1
I am currently running Kodi 17.4 and have also tried the nightly builds (17.5) but having problems with DVD iso. It seems to apply mainly to the newer DVD as the old ones seem to work OK. Essentially what happens is that the DVD starts normally with the short introduction clips but when it gets to the DVD menu, the screen becomes black and you dont see the DVD menu. You can hear the music which is played when the menu should be shown. This continues for about 2-3 minutes and then the menu appears and everything works. This problem occurs in Windows, Android and Libreelec versions.

I have tried Kodi 16.1 Jarvis and Kodi 18 Leia and the same DVD iso works perfectly, showing the DVD menu immediately after the short introduction clips. This problems seems to have been mentioned on several other threads eg. https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=303932

Just wondering whether this can be fixed in  Kodi 17.5?

Edit. I have attached the log from Windows

Hello satelly

Your debug log does not have debugging mode enabled... settings>system settings>logging . Please try again, but you need to capture the problem in the log.

When pasting your link, don't try to surround it with any code, just copy and paste the link so it becomes an active hyperlink. Members tend to not go to the trouble of trying to diagnose your link problems, and just move on.

Have you tried a v18 nightly as a Portable Install? Maybe you could try and see if you still experience the issue... http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Kod...table_Mode

Thanks Karellen

See logging below:
1. Using Krypton 17.4 - dvd menu doesn't load for about 1 minute then works normally

2. Using Leia 18 nightly - dvd menu loads straightaway (previous testing showed Jarvis also works normally)

Ok that is great that v18 is working again. I did recall some work was done on DVD and bluray menus for your exact issue, but I could not find the thread where the conversation was held, to post here.

I have not seen discussion that it will be implemented in v17.x. Obviously it has been implemented, and is working in v18.

Maybe keep using v18, and if it fulfills all your requirements and nothing else you use is broken, slowly migrate over to it?

If you want to repopulate your library into v18, click Import-Export Library in my signature for a simple way to re-create your library in v18

Thanks again Karellen. I might wait until Leia gets officially released then.

Bringing up this old post of mine to share a solution to the problem of the DVD iso menu.

I had stayed with Krypton, waiting for Leia release candidate. I was searching for some other things when I can across an old post regarding deselecting "deinterlace" which is available from the menu only when the video is playing. For the DVD iso where there was a delay in reaching the menu, I removed "deinterlace" and now the DVD iso loads quickly and correctly. Not sure why this works but it does.
