I just updated my Shield to the latest version that includes GA support. It worked great until I converted all of my Kodi installations to use a central SQL database for the library.
Now when I tell GA to play something in Kodi it just does nothing.
It still opens Kodi and performs all other functions I throw at it just fine. It just seems like it can't handle the SQL DB being located on my QNAP.
I've opened a case with Google about this as well since I'm not sure who's side of the fence the ball lies on this issue.
I'm running Kodi 17.4 on all my devices.
