AMD card, git mesa.

When playing with default setup = VDPAU h/w decode, kodi fails to render vid after seeking since -

# first bad commit: [a9f15a02b148e0cac470d9136de39cdc02ceb553] bump ffmpeg to 3.4

Debug log (it's too big for pastebin)

FYI, https://paste.ubuntu.com can hold (somewhat) larger text files. Smile

Could it be possible that there might be a difference between the ffmpeg version you are using and the ffmpeg version Kodi is using in it´s master-tree?

Yea, 100% as I haven't installed ffmpeg for ages - but I thought that it shouldn't matter as kodi downloads its own copy.

Log file seems to suggest to me Kodi's ffmpeg version is used (Line 7), so to get the attention of our video dev could you create a ticket on the Trac Bug tracker (you can use your forum login credentials), make sure the "Video playback" component is selected to get auto allocated to the correct person.

Holy fuck. I was going insane. I thought I was the only one. Is the only solution to downgrade ffmpeg while this gets fixed? I'm more inclined to think its a mesa error than a ffmpeg error, no? I'm only now getting this bug after upgrading both of those packages so it has to be one of the two. I can post my last upgrade log if it helps the devs narrow down the problematic package.

You are also using amd and vdpau? Could you downgrade mesa please? Or use a nightly LibreELEC from Milhouse to verify?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Here's my pacman log of the packages I updated before Kodi stopped working. Would you like to me trim it down to the packages I think are relevant to the bug or should I just include the whole thing like I have?

Here's a youtube video showing and describing the problem.

One thing I found strange about my debug logs was the lib32-mesa and lib32-vdpau. I run a completely 64 bit install of Arch Linux. I used to have some 32-bit libraries installed for cross-compilation purposes and forgot to remove them. Is it possible that Kodi is using the 32-bit libraries instead of the 64-bit versions I also have installed? Will removing those to libraries fix/hurt anything? I'm going to toy with removing those to libraries and report back. Well on my system the 32-bit libraries are only there to support Playstation 2 and Gamecube emulators. I hope Kodi isn't using those instead of the 64 bit versions available.

@op - If you downgrade your ffmpeg package, I suspect you're 100% again, yes?
