v19 Kodi Android Installer
#61
Is this likely to be resolved anytime soon? I run KODI on a Shield TV and really don't want to have to get into its gut to be able to apply nightlies again via a work-around.

@Lunatixz If you are in the neighborhood...

Currently the Kodi Android Installer is not working on both my Android Phone and on my Nvidia Shield.
I can select and browse the folders, but no apk files are listed in any of the folders.

I'm guessing that something broke somewhere, I cannot tell yet where the problem is.
Kodi log doesn't tell much just yet. I'll try a 2nd log attempt if necessary.

Confirmed not working on my Fire Stick as well.

Yep, not showing anything on my FireTV either. Was able to download the apk and then install it using a third party program but now cannot see inside the folders.

I'm confused. The empty folders issue says it's been fixed in 1.0.6, but the affected version number is 1.1.1

The issue was fixed for the windows updater, android update coming soon. Your issue was non-descript.

The Android updater will be being fixed to work on versions post-Krypton? As far as I'm aware, that will require changes to Kodi, so that it will request the correct permissions.

I have not found a workable solutions for the new API. I've played around with adding mainfest permissions... However, no dice.

The issue link you posted is not very informative.. covers what we already know without a working solution.

I'm already rolling out updates that can launch file explorer. Check out my beta repo.

I was aware that particular link didn't provide much information, but attached it as "context". From what I've been trying to figure out, it seems to me that Kodi needs to declare a FileProvider at the very least, but I'm not sure that's exactly it.

Opening a file explorer could be useful, so I'll check that out!

Folders are populating correctly now. Thanks, Lunatixz!

Btw, those wanting to install the downloaded file on an Amazon Fire Device can use the Downloader app.
