There is now an easier way to update and install Kodi Nightlies, Releases, Snapshots & Testbuilds from mirrors.

You can install the Kodi Android Installer and update & install Kodi without the need of any external explorer.  You can download it from here: https://kodi.tv/addon/scripts/kodi-android-installer

Or install it directly from the official Kodi repository by going to Add-ons / Install from repository / Program add-ons / Kodi Android Installer.

Very convenient.
When I try to install the Testbuilds, an error occurs, the file is probably damaged. This is not the case when I install Releases.

That is probably because you are trying to install versions older than what you have installed.  This is especially the case if you have installed 17.5 or above.

it does, just it's such an integral feature that one would expect this functionality to be included by default.

You want to install unstable builds yourself.  For final releases we have Google Play store for auto updating.

can I use the arm version on my nexus player?

This works great on my Shield. It will not install anything on my Sony Bravia TV running Nougat. The 'install' button is grayed out.

Any ideas please?

something I missed in 'permissions' maybe?
