v17 Broken or bogus Version 2.0.0 of TVDB metadata add-on?
#31
I'm having the same issue running Openelec on a home built HTPC.  IT updated to 2.0.0 on Sunday night and would not pick up on exisiting shows with new episodes stored locally on the scan (automatic and manual scans).  I left it be to troubleshoot the next day and saw an update to 2.0.1.  This update did not fix the issue.  I was able to find a 1.8.5 version and installed it and turned off the update and it again picks up the new episodes.

It has been years since I messed with building my HTPC's and both behave the same way at the moment.  Not sure how to get the Debug log I see others posting so I'm not much help there.  Just hoping for a fix.  In searching this issue I found that TVdB is going to shut off the service for older versions below 2.0..  I hope it gets fixed before then.  I did try the MoviedB TV scraper and while it worked, it lacked a lot of the custom banners/posters I can use off of TVdB.

Thank you to those that work on these issues in advance!

Can everyone posting debug logs please DO NOT just post the videoscanning part, we need the complete debug logs so we can see the complete system details of your Kodi install.

Happened to me on a Kodi 17.5 on a Ubuntu 16.04.3 machine.
Today is a difficult day for testing stuff, but perhaps in the evening.

The old API will not be shut off tomorrow, the sunset date for the old API was in actual fact the 1st Oct however was indefinitely delayed, unless you've seen something other than what is here https://forums.thetvdb.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=36557

Okay I missed the new info on the shutdown date, great to know I can still keep using version 1.8.5!

Any chance you could point us to the 1.8.5 version you found so I (we) could try rolling back while we wait for a fix?

On Windows 10 I didn't have any problem with finding new episodes of existing shows with 2.0.0 and 2.0.1. However, what happened for me is that if the TVDB doesn't have an episode thumbnail then no thumbnail was generated by Kodi like it always did before the update to 2.x. I do have "extract thumbnails and video information" activated in settings. I switched back to 1.8.5 and re-scraped those episodes and Kodi generated an image.

To revert to the old scraper, go to the Scraper add-on in the Add-on menu. Open up the Information page for the add-on. Select Update. A box will pop up and v1.8.5 should be listed along with the other recent versions. Select it to install.

If it is not there, you can download v1.8.5 from here and install via zip... http://mirror.onet.pl/pub/mirrors/kodi/a....tvdb.com/

Same issue here. Running openelec on a raspberry pi 3, reverting to v1.8.5 fixed my problems.

Running Kodi 17.5 on Windows ten, I have Swedish set as my language. Before it fetched information in Swedish and in English when not available. After the update to 2.0.1 it will only get in Swedish and just be blank if there is no information, even with English set as fallback language.

I reverted to 1.8.5, and there it works as before.

Rolled back to 1.8.5 and everything is working.  Thank you for the help, greatly appreciated.
