Can skin changes live in local userdata?

I'm planning on tweaking things so that the default "Movies" action goes to a filtered title page (not all titles in the library).  I didn't find any way to do this short of changing Home.xml in the skin.estuary directory.

Is this the only place to do the modification, or can the changes be moved into the local userdata folder?  I tried a couple of locations and didn't seem to get it to work.

You can copy the whole Estuary skin into the addons folder into its own skin.folder, and change its name to something different in the addon.xml file. Otherwise Kodi will end up confused.

Thanks.  After I did that, I couldn't figure out how to activate the skin.  I ended up putting the new name into kodi/system/addon-manifest.xml as well.  Then I could select it.  I assume that's necessary.

Now it seems to be running and I'm off to tweak lots of other nodes to see if they'll all work.
