Greetings everyone,
I'm currently using Ubuntu + Kodi 17.5 setup, with GTX1050ti videocard. I want to be able to play both 1080p and 4kHDR files and I need either of the following:
1. Keep using 1080p resolution with autoswitch to 4k resolution when playing 4k HDR files.
2. Set resolution to 4k and upscale 1080p videos using a proper upscaler whole leaving 4k HDR untouched.
Is there a way to make any of the ways work? Are there any decent upscale filters available under linux with a quality similar to MadVR? If I try to upscale using default video player the picture is ruined, contrast is dead, brightness is dead, etc. Though I like 1080p quality without HTPC upscale as well, so maybe there is a way to auto change resolution depending of video characteristics?
