I installed the Gamestarter add-on and I have a problem with the SNES game sound. Play the game through the advancedlauncher, which is part of the add-on. It's just that I just hear the unlucky cracking instead of the music ... Maybe the MegaDrive sounds OK. I use GameStarter v2.9 on LibreElec 8 and RPI3 connected to the older SHARP AQUOS TV. If you just installed Gamestarter addon, I recommend you to remove it and install retraorch addon and Advanced Emulator Launcher addon. This is a win-win combination.

Does this add on play nice with an existing Retropie setup? I've tried advanced emulator launcher and rom collection browser from Kodi (pplware flavor), using retropies runcommand.sh script to launch the emulators. All the emulators launch, but they launch behind the Kodi display, and kodi still has control focus.
I'd like to use gamestarter in the same way (using runcommand.sh, not installing any extra add-ons apart from AEL). Will this work?

I decided to start with a fresh SD card and the latest LibreELEC image to try out your addon. I'm having trouble adding roms from a network source. I can browse the source in Kodi and even add it as a source in the file manager, but when I update the launcher to point to the same place, the scan doesn't pick up any roms. here's the tail

Hi,
Do not put ROMs in remote SMB directories, it's not supported yet. Support for ROMs in remotes will be added for Kodi Leia but now put your ROMs in a local writable directory. Asset directory may be in a SMB remote but a local directory will be much faster.

Ok, I solved the above problem by creating a permanent network mount in the /storage folder, so now AEL picks up the roms in the folder. New problem, when I go to launch I get a launch error. Here's the relevant log section.

Tried again after chmod. Same behavior, though there are a few more lines in the log file. Not sure if you saw my edit or not above, but the second time I launched Kodi quit and restarted, but the rom didn't launch.

When you launch addon.sh in theory Kodi stops, Retroarch shows up, and when Retroarch finished then Kodi starts again. If the permissions of addon.sh were wrong maybe the premissions of the Retroarch executable are wrong, execution of addon.sh is interrupted and then Kodi is not restarted. I'm not sure... but maybe there was a problem when you installed Gamestarter and the permissions got wrong and that is causing trouble. I guess bite_your_idols is the guy to answer this.
